Again and again I roared in majestic falls
I have gurgled in clear highland springs
And carried the filth of vast cities
Small crafts have I carried safely across oceans
Great oak hulls have I dashed to pieces
I have filled the lungs of drowning sailors
And watched their bodies dissolved
Flames have enraged me
And I have vented my anger on shiny turbine blades
I sparkled with ice in crystal glasses
And mingled with silt in muddy holes, that saved the lives of man and beast
I have floated as clouds in summer skies
And swirled as smoke filled fog amongst gas lit tenements
I have sparkled as morning dew on flowers
And been the rain that smashed the fragile petal
I have quenched the thirst of parched lands
And in a torrent swept away all life
I have been the soft snow
And the sparkling frost on twigs and leaves
I have shone as a mirror in still lakes
And thundered against jagged rocks
I have been the tears of joy
And the sweat of fear
I have been life from the very beginning
The end comes not after me
Eternally moving eternally changing
Forever returning, moving and stopping I am water
